CCA is an intergenerational community with a long history in Seattle. We are thankful that our church enjoys both age and cultural diversity, thus reflecting the diverse nature of the body of Christ.

We strongly emphasize the preached word — it is at the core of everything we do. And we work very hard at encouraging relationships with others that go beyond the superficial. It's not unusual for people to hang out and talk long after the service has ended.

Our Vision

God is calling us to be a HUB of HOPE in the greater Seattle area – a safe place to discover authentic Christ-centered community.

Our Mission

Jesus told his disciples to "go and make disciples of all nations." That is our mission – to help people find and follow Jesus Christ.

Our Voice

Unpretentious, friendly, caring, knowledgeable, engaged, intentional, comfortable, real (unpasteurized), intimate, trusted and thoughtfully bold.

Our History

Founded in 1927, CCA has been a part of Seattle's Roosevelt Neighborhood for over 80 years. Our founding members reflected the largely Scandinavian community of the area and were a part of the Pentecostal movement that began in the early part of the 20th century. In 1934, CCA (then Hollywood Temple) became affiliated with the Assemblies of God. Out of their strong commitment to education, the leadership founded Northwest Bible Institute in our facility, which later moved to Kirkland and became Northwest University. In 1951, we built our present facility, a move which turned out to be providential because the I-5 freeway took out the previous building when it came through in 1959.

Over the years we've changed our name twice (1949: Calvary Temple, 2003: Calvary Christian Assembly), but we've never changed our commitment to be a HUB of HOPE in the greater Roosevelt community. With the new light rail station going in just one block away, we recognize that God has placed us in a very strategic place. We're eager to meet the challenge of living out authentic Christ-centered community in Seattle's dynamic urban context.
